Das Aufsichtsratsmandat / Der Aufsichtsrat (Modul I)
The obligation of supervisory boards to provide ongoing training is regulated by law for banks and has been included in the German Corporate Governance Code for all other companies for years.
Supervisory boards should therefore (continue to) address the issue of continuing education proactively, also so that the chairperson of the supervisory board is able to provide information on this at the annual general meeting if shareholders ask questions in this regard or proxy advisors include the issue of continuing education for supervisory board members (and, if applicable, proof thereof) in their guidelines.
The online workshop "The Supervisory Board Mandate/The Supervisory Board" offered by the Bankenakademie and consisting of several modules ties in here.
It is an advanced training event within the meaning of Section 25d (4) of the German Banking Act (KWG).
In the three modules, you will receive a comprehensive overview of the multi-layered topics of supervisory board activity; existing knowledge will be updated and deepened in the core areas of practical supervisory board work (including bank-specific issues). Practical examples are used to comprehensively address, among other things, the current state of the debate.
Module I (04/26/2023) includes:
Part 1: Framework of Supervisory Board work
Part 2: (Internal) organization of supervisory board work
The online trainings are led by Dr. Jens Thau, M.C.J. (New York University), Attorney at Law, Labor Law Specialist, Attorney at Law, New York. He is Managing Director of the Employers' Association of the Private Banking Industry (AGV Banken) and has himself many years of experience as a member of supervisory boards. He is certified by Deutsche Börse AG as a qualified supervisory board member and as a specialist supervisory board member "Audit Committee".
