Banken und Werbung: Neue Rahmenbedingungen für die Werbung mit Nachhaltigkeit und „grünen“ Finanzprodukten
How will banks be allowed to advertise sustainable products in the future—and where are the legal pitfalls?
This practical webinar provides a concise overview of current German case law on companies advertising to consumers using environmental terms, as well as the upcoming amendment to the UWG (Unfair Competition Act) as part of the implementation of the EmpCo Directive (EU) 2024/825. It highlights the new requirements that this will entail for advertising with sustainability and, in particular, for “green” financial products. Among other things, it will answer questions such as what greenwashing is, under what conditions companies may advertise themselves or their products as “climate neutral” or use sustainability labels, and what companies will have to consider in future when using “green brands.”
In addition to the legal classification, the focus will be on exchanging experiences on the current advertising practices of banks and financial institutions. Typical cases and the practical handling of warnings or inadmissible advertising by competitors will be discussed. Take advantage of this opportunity to discuss your questions directly with experts from the fields of law, associations, and practice.
The webinar is aimed in particular at employees responsible for advertising and product sales at financial institutions (fund companies, insurance companies, and banks), including employees in legal departments.
The speakers will be Dr. Julian Wernicke (Boehmert & Boehmert Rechtsanwälte und Patentanwälte), Dr. Lambert Köhling (Bundesverband deutscher Banken e. V.) and Susanne Klas (Deutsche Bank AG).
