Ossig: Banks want to play a key role on the road to a climate-friendly society
“With the Green Deal, Europe is pursuing a very ambitious green strategy – and rightly so,” Christian Ossig, Chief Executive of the Association of German Banks, said of the investment programme for a sustainable Europe presented today by the European Commission. “We are aware that the state cannot shoulder all of this on its own. The banks want to play a key role on the road to a more climate-friendly society. But to have more money and more loans for sustainable investments, we need appropriate framework conditions and not even more bureaucracy. Because too much bureaucracy can also destroy the climate.”
